On the 18 August 2020 Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana, the governor of Phetchaburi province, led the forum on the 1st Phetchaburi UNESCO Creative Cities Network steering committee (1/2563) at Petai conference room, Royal Diamond Hotel, Phetchaburi province. Attending were various stakeholders of Phetchaburi including the public and private sectors, educational institutes, and citizens of the city, to push the city’s potential and available resources to be displayed on international forums such as the city’s natural resources, art and culture, the potential of local communities as well as to prepare the city for the application of UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
Being a part of UNESCO Creative Cities Network will give Phetchaburi a chance to promote the city on global forums. Joining the network of creative cities, which consist of 180 cities from 72 countries worldwide would, would enable the city to join various projects and activities. This would lead to increase popularity among tourists, which would in turn affect the creation of future plans, and city projects, this is consistent with UNESCO Creative Cities’ policy on a sustainable development by engaging all parties involved.
